He is survived by: his wife Joyce Gause Thurman of Bartow, FL; his son James Thurman, Jr. (Sheree) of Tampa, FL; his grandchildren, Sydney and Justin Thurman of Tampa, FL; his stepmother Francella Thurman; and his siblings, Eva Pridgen of Whiteville, NC, Marie Boyd (Andrew) of Hallsboro, NC, Tonya Rodgers (Ken) of Bowie, MD, Chenita Freeman (Tavis) of Gastonia, NC and Ernest Thurman of Hallsboro, NC. He is also survived by aunts, nieces, nephews, special cousins, and loyal friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Gause Funeral Home (625 S Holland Pkwy, Bartow, FL 33830). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church (3397 Old Bartow Eagle Lake Rd, Bartow, FL 33830).
