He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John L. Rivers and Virginia M. Rivers (Vass); his granddaughter Brecca; his sister Cindy; his son-in-law Adam Lambert; his daughters, Gloria Lambert and Christina (Brent); his grandchildren, Jessica, Christopher, Brandi, Zachary and Brandon; and his siblings, Pat, Michael and Bill. He was also cherished by four great grandchildren.
