He was predeceased by: his parents, Geraldine Whitford (Campbell) and Allen Whitford; and his siblings, Ruth, Richard and Clifton Russell.
He is survived by: his sons, David (Laurel) and Todd (Debra); his grandchildren, Abigail, Colin and Spencer; and his brother Allen (Wendy) of San Antonio, TX. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
