He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon James and Frances Rivers; and his siblings, Robert Rivers, Judy Dagenais and Shirley Hartman.
He is survived by: his son Steven E. Rivers (Jenny); his sister Diana Priest (Wade); his significant other Clair Helwig; and his grandchildren, Duane Pechtel, Eric Pechtel and Amanda Knowlton. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
