He was predeceased by: his parents, Eddie Lee Glisson Godwin and Van T. Godwin; and his daughter Van Lee Godwin. He is survived by: his wife Myra Jean Oswald Godwin; and his daughters, Cynthia Godwin Payne (Jim) of Quincy, FL and Melody Godwin (Mo Roland) of Atlantic Beach, FL..
