He is survived by: his siblings, Everet Whitaker, Ira Whitaker, Arilia, Mary and Shirley; his wife Thelma Faye Ockerman Whitaker; his children, Toni Lynn Whitaker Prater (Michael) and John Timothy Whitaker (Nancy); his grandchildren, John, Jenny, Anthony and Daniel; and his uncle Jay.
