He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Porter Tharp and Fern Johnson Tharp; and his son-in-law Bobby Simmons. He is survived by: his wife Dixie Bell Cobb Tharp; his sister Brenda Dickens (Berle); and his children, Linda Simmons, Stephen Tharp (Dana), Deborah Adams (Royce), Robyn Dotson (John) and Robert Tharp, II (Amanda). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
