He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joe McGurk and Helen Gerdes McGurk; his wife Janice; his sons, John, Mike (Jill) and Patrick (Marie); his grandchildren, Michael, Brielyn, Ethan and Audra; his sister Sandy Riis (Don); his nephews, Greg and Jeff Riis (Marcy); his great-nephews, Joey and Sam; and his brothers-in-law, John (Barb) and Doug MacEachin.
