He was predeceased by: his parents, Nina Smith and Greenberry Smith; his son Edwin Smith; his granddaughter Laura Joye Harmon; and his siblings, Maude Smith Evans, Marcus and Clyde Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Puryear; his daughters, Sue Harmon (Kyle) of Columbia and Joye Smith of Birmingham, Alabama; his grandson Travis Harmon (Bianca) of Lexington; and his sister Helen Humphries of O'Brien, Florida.. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
