He was predeceased by: his father Authur J.. He is survived by: his sons, Michael L. Gay (Linda) of New Braunfels and William Lee Gay of Alford, Florida; his stepchildren, Darrell Williams Jr. of Round Lake, Jenny Owens (Tim) of Grand Ridge, FL, Stephanie Stephens (Eddie) of Knoxville and Anita Lane Stewart (Kevin) of Pensacola, Florida; and his siblings, William Alfred Gay (Debra) of Alford, Eddie Fred Mayo of Alford, Jerry Gay (Glenda) of Georgia, Billy Wayne Gay (Stephanie) of Alford, Florida, Erma Jo Hendrix (Willard) of Marianna, Janet Stokes of Panama City, Geraldine Powell of Alford and Annette Braxton of Alford, Florida.. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
