He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenza Frank Koontz and Alta Noreen Potter Lewis; his stepfather Raymond Lewis; his siblings, Sonny, Richard Koontz and Olma Koontz; his grandchildren, Christopher and Jennifer Watterly; and his great grandchild Samantha Steele.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon Koontz; his children, Robert E. Watterly (Laurie), Tracy Cocking (Walter, Jr.), Kimberly Steinway (Timothy), Bobbie Steele (Jackie) and Sabrina Bellock (Richard, Jr.); and his sister Marion Baker. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
