He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Swanson Sr. and Ruth Swanson (Scott); his brother Richard; his grandson Mahki; and his nephew Kenneth Swanson.
He is survived by: his wife Octavia; his children, Marvin III (Lakisha), Marsha, Tamyra, Tameka (Terence), Marcel and Marcus Swanson Jr.; his siblings, Marvina, Posie, June Watson and Robert Swanson; and his close friends, Robert Starling and Lawrence Johnson. He is also survived by his 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
