He was predeceased by: his parents, Ashley Shaffer and Edith Shaffer (Sigmond); his wife Patricia Brewster; and his siblings, Ralph Shaffer, Helen Rowland and Barbara McDonald.
He is survived by: his children, Cindy Campbell (Paul) of Denver, CO, Denis Shaffer (Brenda) of Middletown, DE and Timothy Shaffer (Susan L. Gregg) of Wilmington, DE; his grandchildren, Michael Joye, Kevin Joye, Tommy Joye, Juliana Joye, Christopher Shaffer, Benjamin Shaffer, Andrew Shaffer, Michaela Keffer and Caroline Shaffer Robin; and his sister Mary Jo Smith of Pendleton, IN. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
