He is survived by: his sister Gildea Award; his wife Patricia McCall Di Pinto; his children, Dr. Nina, Meg Hartman (Bob), James Di Pinto and Maribeth; his grandchildren, Caitlin Kuklis (Jon), Emily Yearsley (Jacob), Andrew Naugle, Aidan Naugle and James Naugle; his brothers, Anthony and Nick Di Pinto; and his pet Charlie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

“To Joe Dipinto's family: I wanted to extend my personal condolences to you for your loss and also share the story of my relationship with Joe. In the early 1980's I had several occasions to work with Joe on issues affecting the 40 Acres where we lived. On several occasions, Joe stepped in to help us address neighborhood concerns because it was the right thing to do. He epitomized what a public servant should be. I will always remember him for that.
