It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Shirley Ruth Staats of Smyrna, Delaware, who passed away on February 13, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Charles Staats (Buster); and her children, Sharlene Bartsch and Charles Staats III. She is survived by: her daughters, Rosalie Martin (Pierce), Jeannine Staats and Teresa Swartz (John); her grandchildren, Franklin Bartsch Jr., Darrin Bartsch (Stephanie), Kristin Borda (Michael), Angel Martin, Amber Startt, Jeffrey Startt Jr., John Jr. Swartz (Katrina) and Jacob Swartz; and her siblings, James C. Reynolds and Mary Lou Wheeler. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home (212 N Broad St, Middletown, DE 19709). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, February 25th 2025 at the Townsend Cemetery.
