He was predeceased by: his brother Robert; and his parents, Theodore Roosevelt and Viola Smith (Richardson). He is survived by: his wife Edna Smith (Jones); his children, Paula (Nathan), Donald (Valerie) and Patty (Rich); his stepsons, Edward, Tony (Krista) and Mark (Tara); his siblings, Walter, William, Mary Jane and Ruby Cruz (Thomas); and his niece Salimah Rasul (Rosemary). He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
