She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Parsons and Ruth E. Parsons (Houston). She is survived by: her children, Karen Johnson of Oklahoma City, Evelyn Stevens of Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania, John Staren, III of Claymont and Allen Staren of Smyrna, Delaware; and her half-siblings, Nancy Marvel of North East, Maryland and James McDowell of North East. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to either the Humane Society of America or to the American Cancer Society.
