He was predeceased by: his parents, Edith Clayton Thompson and Rev. James Edward Thompson; and his stepsisters, Norma Warfield and Eileen Griffen. He is survived by: his wife Mary Lois Gilder; his daughter Edith Lynette Thompson; his granddaughter Jennifer Lynn McAfee; and his son Isaiah McAfee. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
