He is survived by: his son Kirby Short (Jessica) of Bishopville, MD; his siblings, Clinton Short of Oregon, Gary Short of North Carolina, Judy Bennett of Laurel, DE, Carol Richardson of Laurel, DE and Barbara Hall of Selbyville, DE; his grandchildren, Kirby Short, Jr. and Kayla Short; and his great grandchildren, Nate Short and Payton Lewis.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284.
