He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Daniel and Lena Schmidt (Montgomery); his son Stephen Gregory; and his siblings, Margot Scarbourgh (John), Linda Schmidt and John Thomas Schmidt.
He is survived by: his wife Mary J. Schmidt; his son Daniel B. Schmidt; his stepsons, Michael C. Beers of West Newton, MA and Stephen J. Beers of Lighthouse Point; his brothers, Michael Schmidt (Chris) of Mechanicsville, MD, William "Billy" Schmidt (Georgiana) of New Port Richie, FL and Karl Schmidt (Patricia) of Laurel, MD; his grandchildren, Charlie, Lizzie, Zachary and Olivia; and his siblings-in-law, Daniel A. Schmidt and Barbara Schmidt.
