He was predeceased by: his parents, Roeland Maria and Geertruida Maria (Deenik); his wife Dorothy Lee; and his brother Roeland DeWilde. He is survived by: his stepdaughters, Wendy Yelton and Linda Brumit; and his stepgrandchildren, Christina McCormick and Jaime Grimes.
