She was predeceased by: her parents, John Homer McFarland and Martha McFarland (Large) of Virginia. She is survived by: her sister Nancy Sue Dicken of Rehoboth Beach, DE; her nephew John E. Dicken (Rhonda L.) of Germantown, MD; and her nieces, Adelaide Dicken of Brooklyn, NY and Bethany S. Sanecki (Carter) of St. Charles, IL..

“I worked with Jane from 1989 until her retirement in 2002. She was a warm supremely intelligent generous-hearted and dedicated person who led the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Bicentennial Library System in new and positive directions after leaving her position as an academic library director at Yale. She came back to TN to care for her parents and exhibited the same whole-hearted devotion in everything she did for the public library, its patrons, and its staff. She will be greatly missed.”
