Roger W. Hitchens Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Roger W. Hitchens of Ocean View, Delaware, who passed away on November 17, 2024, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Roger may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Roger touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his wife Virginia "Ginger" Hitchens. He is survived by: his children, Dale W. Hitchens (Lynn) of Ocean View, DE and Stephanie A. Wilkinson (Jeff) of Ocean View, DE; his grandsons, Cory Hitchens (Pam) of Georgetown, DE and Andrew Hitchens (Emily) of Holly Ridge, NC; and his sister Elaine Breasure (Wayne) of Ocean View, DE. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Ocean View Church of Christ (55 West Ave, Ocean View, DE 19970). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Mariner's Bethel Cemetery (81 Central Ave, Ocean View, DE 19970).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Roger's name to the Millville Volunteer Fire Company, 35554 Atlantic Ave., Millville, DE 19967 or the Ocean View Church of Christ, 55 West Ave., Ocean View, DE 19970.
