He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Schmitt (Ponting); his children, Richard Schmitt, Jr. (Christine) of Townsend, DE, Susan Lawler of South Bethany, DE, Reneé Millman (Dale) of Lincoln, DE and Dennis Schmitt (Judith) of Middletown, DE; his sons-in-law, Clinton Slack of Newark, DE and Paul Keenan of Ocean View, DE; and his siblings, Robert Schmitt (Catherine) of Hamilton, NJ and Catherine Toppin of Addison, ME. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
