He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Gallagher Doherty. He is survived by: his children, Molly Doherty-Cantler (Don) and Dan Doherty, Jr; his grandchildren, Bridget, Maura, Kaitlin and Kevin; his siblings, Margaret Quigley and Phelim Doherty; his sister-in-law Shelia Cushing; and his close friend Carolyn Jennings. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dan's memory may be made to Seasons Hospice, 220 Continental Dr, Suite 407, Newark, Delaware 19713.
