He was predeceased by: his parents, Eileen Sweeney (Sabotta) and James Sweeney. He is survived by: his wife Jane McGonegal; his children, Julianne Barclay (Andrew) of Swarthmore, PA, Meg Keating (Ryan) of Hockessin, Brendan Sweeney (Elissa Tuerk-Sweeney) of Kennett Square, PA, Sarah Day Holmes (Robert DeGroat) and James Holmes (Meredith) of Wilmington; his grandchildren, Ryan, Jake, Alex, Sawyer, Riley, Connor, Cassidy, Henry, Patrick, Emily, Lauren and Teddy; his siblings, Susan Szczerba (Stanley) of Wilmington, Margaret Sweeney-Baker (Mark Baker) of Wilmington, Kevin Sweeney (Mary Jo) of Townsend and James Sweeney of Wilmington; and his friend Dan Creedon. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
