With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Ruth Evelyn Hurst (Newark, Delaware), whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul R. Brown and Linda Mae Brown (Carter); her husband Franklin Hurst; her children, Ruth Gandy, Virginia Hurst, Thomas Dorsey and David Eager; and her siblings, Florence Hall, Shirley Lafrancis, Hersh Brown, Raymond Brown and Earl Brown.
She is survived by: her daughters, Evelyn Owens (Greg) and Nancy Gant (Edward); her daughter-in-law Arlene Eager; her grandchildren, Jeremy Baeder (Jeanie), Crystal Baeder, Christopher Baeder, Thomas Smith (Julie), Susan Smith (Tosh), Amber Shire, Angelica Sweetman, Jeffrey Sweetman (Kalyn), Tiffany Billingsley (Alan), Carol Ross, Kimberly Hentkowski (John), Chris Gant and Greg Gant; her great grandchildren, Nathan Baeder (Kayla), Anthany Baeder, Alanna Sanders, Mariah Baeder, Vinny Baeder, Alivia Mealy, Cayson Kellam, Bentley Smith, Sophia Billingsley, Connor Sullivan, Amara Blake, James Blake, Camden Shire, Legna Ward, Aubri King, Leon Sweetman, Kaylyn Gant, Chandler Ross, Samantha DeGeorge, Dante Gant, Keanu Gant and Gabriel Gant; her great great grandchildren, Xylas Sanders, Savannah DeGeorge and Connor DeGeorge; her brother James Brown (Evon); and her siblings-in-law, Wanda Scrafford and James Hall. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the R. T. Foard & Jones, Inc. (122 W Main St, Newark, DE 19711). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Newark Cemetery (20 New St, Newark, DE 19711).
