He was predeceased by: his wife Jane F. DeMatt; his brother James DeMatt; and his son-in-law Buster Branch. He is survived by: his children, Marie Howell (Thomas), Neil M. DeMatt Jr. (Deborah), Janet Branch, Regina Blackway (Mark), Michael DeMatt (Amy), Todd Sowinski (Christine), Eric Sowinski (Jennifer) and Jon Sowinski; his grandchildren, Gabriela Sowinski and Jewel Sowinski; and his brother Enrico DeMatt (Carol). He is also survived by 26 great grandchildren.
