With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Melvin Joseph Shaffer Jr. of Newark, Delaware, born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, who passed away on June 18, 2024 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Joseph Shaffer, Sr. and Eleanor Petrick; his wife Susan P. Shaffer; and his siblings, Ronald Shaffer, Rita Babe and Patricia Landis.
He is survived by: his children, Jeffrey Shaffer (Danielle) and Donna Avallone; his grandchild Jade Avallone; and his sisters, Ruth Lang and Sharon DiStefano. He is also survived by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to "St. Jude Children's Hospital" and sent in care of funeral home.
