James Quarry Obituary
Newark, DE—James ('Jim') Quarry, 63, formerly of Springfield, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family on June 24, 2024. He was born in Chester, Pennsylvania, to the late James J. Quarry and Violet Mary Varano. He graduated from St. Kevin's School and Cardinal O'Hara High School. He enjoyed playing ice hockey on the O'Hara team and with the Blue Line Club at the Havertown Skatium. While working at Thriftway in Havertown, he met the love of his life, Linda Angelo, whom he later married.
For 30 years, Jim worked as an Electronics Mechanic at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, the Naval Academy in Annapolis, and at the Philadelphia Shipyard. From Annapolis, he and Linda moved to Newark, Delaware, where they lived for many years. Jim enjoyed many things, but his passion was the love and care of animals.
Jim is survived by his wife, Linda, his sister, Mary Ann Quarry (John W. Dolan), and a large, loving extended family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Kevin Church, 200 West Sproul Road, Springfield, on Monday, July 1. Family and friends may visit from 9:30 ̶11:00 a.m. on Monday morning in the Church. Entombment will be in SS Peter and Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (http://www.stjude.com.) are appreciated.
