He was predeceased by: his father Maurice Klair Shaffer; and his father-in-law Carl Hechmer. He is survived by: his mother Linda Gayle Shaffer (Hoffman); his wife Denise M. Shaffer (Hechmer); his daughters, Melanie and Laura; his brother Donald Shaffer; his stepbrothers, Mill McKay and Ben McKay (Ginger); his stepmother Susan Shaffer; his brothers-in-law, Carl Hechmer (Karen) and Sean Hechmer (Kerry); his mother-in-law Patricia Hechmer; his nephew Griffin; and his nieces, Tiffany, Rhys, Kayde, Ashlynn and Amelia.
The family requests that face masks be worn by all in attendance, regardless of vaccination status.
