It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alexander Oakes Jr. of Newark, Delaware, who passed away on November 1, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander Oakes Sr. and Leona Oakes (Lomas). He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou Oakes (Wertz); his children, Brian Alexander Oakes (Cheryl) and Laura Anne Verlaque (Simon); his grandchildren, Nexus Cook, Lucy Verlaque, William Verlaque and Samantha Verlaque; and his brother Robert Oakes (Joy).
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Head of Christiana Presbyterian Church (1100 W Church Rd, Newark, DE 19711). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the "Head of Christiana Presbyterian Church" or a charity of one's choice and send in care of R.T. Foard and Jones, Inc 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.
