He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Lee and Corelia Mayer; his grandson Shamar Cross; and his brothers, Charles "Pat" Mayer, David Mayer and William Mayer.
He is survived by: his wife June Davis; his children, Michelle Williams (Keenan), Thomas Johnson, Kimberley Price, Laurie Moore, Lana Moore Day, Ryan Johnson, Tasey Burton (Frank) and Scott Taylor; and his siblings, James Mayer Willie Reeder, Hattie Suber, Barbara Jean Suber, Nathaniel Mayer and Betty Jo Jacobs (Roger). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
