He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy A. Smith and Dora M. Smith (Zepp); and his brothers, Alfred and Donald Smith. He is survived by: his wife Barbara A. Smith (Leese) of Milton, DE; his sons, David Smith (Sharon) of Glen Rock, PA, James Smith (Kimberly) of Littlestown, PA and Joel Smith of Hanover, PA; and his siblings, Ramon Smith (Jean) of Hanover, PA, Gene Smith (Rita) of Hanover, PA, Nancy Cole (John) of Venice, FL and Margaret Wolford of Gardners, PA. He is also survived by his five grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren.
