He is survived by: his children, Mark Thorp of Milton, DE and Kathleen Weisblatt (Eric) of Alexandria, VA; his granddaughter Molly (Peter Christmas); his great grandchild Maeve; and his granddaughters, Madeline and Lily Weisblatt of Alexandria, VA..

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Joe's memory to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, or the American Cancer Society.
