Peggy Jane Frye Obituary
Peggy J. Frye, age 83, of Laurel passed away on June 23, 2023 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Maryland. She was born in Salisbury, Maryland on June 13, 1940 to the late James Reid, Sr. and Margaret Davenport. She graduated from North Dorchester High School.
Peggy retired from the Laurel School District as the Finance Secretary with over 40 years of service. She was a member of the Elk's Lodge, and her hobbies included reading, playing bingo, creating backpacks for children, donating gifts for families at Christmas time, collecting Santa Clauses, and traveling. She had a memorable trip with her family when they traveled from Ocean City, Maryland to Sacramento, California along Rt.50.
Peggy is survived by daughter, Brenda Kelley (and David Kelley); son, Greg Frye; brother, Leonard Reid; grandchildren, Wendi Luffman (and Sean Luffman) and Michael Greenfield (and Alle Rioux); great grandchildren, Samantha Luffman (and Dylan King), Gavin Luffman, Amelia Greenfield, and Abigail Greenfield; great-great grandchildren, Caleb Luffman, Rylynne Minium-King, Piper Minium-King. She is also survived by her late husband Texas Young's loving family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother James Reid Jr, her first husband, Delsmere Frye Sr, her son Delsmere Frye Jr, and her second husband Texas Young.
A viewing will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 from 11am-12pm at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel, Delaware 19956. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 pm in Spring Hill Memory Gardens in Hebron, Maryland. Pastor Joe LeCates will officiate.
