He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Downes and Doris Downes of Delmar. He is survived by: his wife Brenda; his children, Tonya (Jamie) of Wellington, Florida and Jason (Kristin) of Laurel, Delaware; his granddaughter Makenzie; his brothers, Douglas (Cathy), Alan (Barbara), Kipp (Michelle), Gerry (Patti) and Darrell; and his aunts, Charlotte and Fran. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery (26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Odd Fellows Lodge 27, P.O. Box 146, Laurel, DE 19956 for the kindness they have shown to JR with a ramp built especially for him and medical equipment for his use.
