He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Hazel Birney and David T. Birney; his wife Beth; and his children, Stacy Deakyne (David Jr.) of Smyrna, DE, John Birney Jr. (Angela) of Smyrna, DE, Christopher Birney (Stephanie) of Milton, DE and Timothy Birney of Hartly, DE.. He was also cherished by four children, their spouses, and one of his grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home (123 W Commerce St, Smyrna, DE 19977). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
