He was predeceased by: his father Carroll Johnson; his wife Norma Jean Johnson; and his siblings, Thomas "Tom" Johnson, William "Bill" Johnson, Etta Winters, Robert "Bob" Johnson and Carroll "Lee" Johnson.
He is survived by: his children, James H. Johnson of King George, VA and Josephine G. Twilley of Hartly, DE; his grandchildren, Christina Mitchell, Kelly Lloyd, Zachary Johnson, Tyler Johnson and Lauren Johnson; and his great grandchildren, Christopher Lloyd, Paul J. Mitchell, Madison Lloyd, Dawson Mitchell and Nathan Lloyd.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Cheswold Volunteer Fire Company and or Ladies Auxiliary.
