With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Jesse Thomas Hitchens Jr. of Harrington, Delaware, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 25, 2024 at the age of 74. He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse T. Hitchens Sr. and Phyllis McDonald Hitchens; and his brother Wayne Hitchens (Butch). He is survived by: his wife Mary Hitchens; his sons, Adam (Dawn) and Jeremy (Engracia); his stepson Rick Cornell (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Gavin Hitchens, Alexander Hitchens, Averett Hitchens, Taytem Hitchens, Todd Hitchens, Trayton Hitchens, Carter Cornell and Blake Cornell; and his sister Anita Willoughby (Missy) of Choptank, Maryland..
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Pete's honor to Greenwood Mennonite School, 12802 Mennonite School Rd. Greenwood, DE 19950 where Pete was a track and field coach for many years.
