He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul B. Brashears and Irene E. Brashears; and his siblings, Carolyn Centofanti, Arnold and David Brashears.

He is survived by: his wife Nellie M. Brashears (Uppercue); his sister Eileen Teague (Bob) of Westminster, MD.; his children, Nancy Eshenbaugh of Greenwood, DE and Mark Brashears; his daughter-in-law Jonni Brashears (Chase) of Dagsboro, DE; his children, Matthew Brashears of Greenwood, DE and Janet Kreft; his son-in-law Stephen Kreft of Hampstead, MD.; and his grandchildren, Derrick Eshenbaugh, Melanie Eshenbaugh, Justin Eshenbaugh, Jaclyn Kreft, Lauren Eshenbaugh and Tyler Kreft. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
