He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon F. Rust and Esther L. Rust (Everett); his wife Betty M. McDowell; his son Leon F. Rust, III; his daughters-in-law, Major Joanne Devine-Rust (US Army) and Jill Rust; and his brothers, Jefferson Rust, Sr. and Richard Rust, Sr..
He is survived by: his children, Edward Dale Rust of Midlothian, VA and Rev. Maleia Ann Rust of Greenwood, DE; his grandchildren, Jeremy Rust of Midlothian, VA and Mandy Smith (Eddy) of Chesterfield, VA; and his siblings, David Rust of Harrington, DE, Randall Rust of Felton, DE, Sharon Dawson of Milford, DE, Cindy Bolin (John) of Farmington, DE and Patricia Mast (Gordy) of Harrington, DE. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company.
