He was predeceased by: his parents, Earle E. DeFord and Pearl Smith DeFord. He is survived by: his children, Franklin DeFord, Jr. (Susan) of Bridgeville and Kimberly Lawson (Granville) of Tennessee; his grandchildren, Wesley, Carlyn, Christopher, Amanda, Jenna, Kelsey and Destiny; and his sisters, Barbara Williams (Jim) of Greenwood and Carol Butler (Jack) of Denton. He is also survived by great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 1st 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the St. Johnstown Cemetery of Greenwood (13471 St Johnstown Rd, Greenwood, DE 19950).
