She was predeceased by: her parents, Riley Mae and Harvey M. Collins; her spouse Norris William Messick; her brother Joseph Collins; her half-sister Kathryn Mulholland; her grandson Gregory Toadwine; her sons-in-law, Donald Toadwine and Robert H. Dickerson; and her granddaughter-in-law Patience Slacum.
She is survived by: her daughters, Barbara Dickerson of Bridgeville and Linda Toadvine of Laurel; her grandsons, Todd Slacum (Dawn) of Georgetown and Michael Toadvine Laurel (Lisa); her great grandchildren, Seth Slacum, Zachery Toadvine (Lauren), Ashley Pugh and Whitney White (Adam); her great great grandchildren, Gannon, Gracie, Jayleigh Pugh, Mallory and Bailee Toadvine; her caregivers, Carla, Howard, Martin, Sara, Adrienne and Sar; and her roommate Barbara Thornton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
