He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Bashelor and Annie Dell Daugherty; and his siblings, Ronald Bashelor, James Bashelor, Daniel Bashelor, Ann Petit, Libby Mason and JoAnn Bashelor.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Catherine Bashelor; his children, Richard P Bashelor Jr. of Texas, Karen Dayton (Fulton) of Texas, Earlene Bashelor Mayhorn of Cambridge, MD and Christine Jones (Cory) of Bridgeville, DE; and his sisters, Caroline Bell of Texas and Renee Matlock of Texas. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
