She was predeceased by: her parents, Bessie Mae White (Rogers) and Thomas A. White; her husband J. Sowell; and her siblings, J. D. White, Cleatus White, Jessie Lee Brown, Bessie Mae Robertson and Adelle McKamey.
She is survived by: her children, Lanny J. Sowell (Karen) of Delmar, Cindy Parks of Laurel and Wesley A. Sowell (Marianna) of Laurel; her stepdaughter Patricia Sowell of Athens, Alabama; her grandchildren, Kristina Akin (Greg), Casey Sowell, Amanda Witt, Cameron Sowell and Natalie Sowell; and her great grandchildren, Ruby Elizabeth Akin and Abigail Grace Akin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
