He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Melvin and Evelyn Gray Melvin; and his brother Richard "Snooky" Gray. He is survived by: his wife Regina "Jean" Melvin; his children, John Melvin, Jr. (Teresa) of Delmar, Christy Parsons (David) of Delmar, Jeff Melvin (Laura) of Delmar, Jared Melvin (Andrea) of Hamilton, VA, Jennifer Melvin of Bel Air, MD, Michael Melvin (Andrea) of Denver, NC, Christine Melvin of Delmar and Riley Honess of Hebron, MD; his brothers, Norris Melvin (Charlotte) and Bill Melvin (Edna); his sister-in-law Phyllis Melvin; and his grandchildren, Ryan, Nathan, Ava, Julia and Nora. He is also survived by numerous other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
