With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Herbert Carey of Dagsboro, Delaware, who passed away on June 26, 2021 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Robert Carey and Aline Sojka (Jarman); and his stepmother Ila Carey. He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Carey (Baker); his daughter Dana Warrington (Guy); his grandchildren, Lindsey McCabe (Andrew), Kayla Bollinger (Scott), Jordan McAllister (Spencer) and Nathan Warrington (Heather Collins); and his great grandchildren, Kennedy, Bethany McCabe, Parker, Shelby Bollinger, Reagan Bartkowiak and Jack McAllister.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Herb's name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or Bethel United Methodist Church, PO Box 147, Dagsboro, DE 19939.

“Steve Smyk Sr. expresses his condolences to the Carey family on the death of our brother, friend and fellow police officer. I can't remember the first time I met him but I think it was when I was a trooper working out of Troop 7 (in Dewey Beach) and new to the area in 1975, I stopped in to introduce myself at the Bethany Beach police facility. We were instant friends! He is a Charter and Life Member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 2. Rest in peace brother. Prayers for the family.”
