He was predeceased by: his parents, Grace Spencer and Charlie Spencer; his wife Judith L. Spencer; his siblings, Charlie, Kenneth, Ralph, Thomas, Virginia Lee, Myrtle, Mary and Agnes; and his grandson Brian Potter Jr..

He is survived by: his siblings, Harry Spencer, George (Wanda Woodall), Troy (Dolly Woodall) and Grace Ann Fuhr; and his children, Eddie Spencer (Christine), Virginia Messick (John) and Laura Potter (Brian). He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
