With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of William Ver Planck Newlin (Washington, District of Columbia), born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 11, 2024 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

In the vast expanse of eternity, William Ver Planck shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid William Ver Planck farewell, his loved ones carry with them the precious gift of his memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.

He is survived by: his wife Louisa Foulke Newlin; his children, Bill (Maureen Newlin), Nick Newlin (Joanne Flynn) and Eliza (Dan Carney); his sister Lucy Bell Sellers; and his granddaughters, Louise, Nicole and Elizabeth.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the St. Alban's Episcopal Church (3001 Wisconsin Ave, Washington, DC 20016).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the College of the Atlantic.
